On this West Virginia Morning, Soldiers in West Virginia’s Reserve 363 Military Police Company came home last month from Afghanistan and Kosovo in time to celebrate the Medical Reserve Corps’s 108 birthday. Chip Hitchcock interviewed the Reserve unit’s commanding officer last year and brings us this report.
More and more of West Virginia’s service men and women are also returning to their home state in desperate need of services to deal with mental health or mobility issues. At a federal prison in Morgantown, inmates are working to train service dogs for West Virginia veterans in need of assistance. As Kara Lofton reports, those inmate dog trainers are also veterans themselves looking to give back to their fellow soldiers.
Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore makes a stop in West Virginia for a viewing of his latest work at the West Virginia International Film Festival. Dave Mistich reports Moore made the stop after canceling a trip to Italy for the film’s premiere there.
