Harrison County officials are attributing a 911 dispatch mix-up to a computer error and miscommunication.
Firefighters responding to a house fire last week were sent to the wrong address about 20 miles away.
County administrator Willie Parker tells The Exponent Telegram that an investigation found the house’s location hadn’t been converted to a new address in the Harrison-Taylor 911 computer system. When a caller reported the fire, the computer system showed an old address.
Parker says there also was confusion between the dispatcher and the caller.
He says Harrison-Taylor 911 officials are checking all addresses in the system to make sure they are current.
The house was a total loss.
