Frontier telecommunications says acts of vandalism disrupted service in three West Virginia cities, including interruptions to 911 centers.
Frontier announced a $10,000 reward for information on the alleged theft or intentional damage to infrastructure. The company says vandalism led to service interruptions in Hedgesville, Oceana and Fairmont this Saturday.
About 1,400 Frontier Communications workers in West Virginia and Virginia have been on strike since March 4, after their union contract expired without a new agreement.
The release from Frontier didn’t mention the striking workers, but the company’s senior vice president for the Midwest region, Greg Stephens, noted that the company has seen an increase in vandalism over the past two weeks.
A judge granted a restraining order Friday preventing striking workers from engaging in unlawful activity, something the workers have denied doing.
