The West Virginia Department of Education is set to hold a meeting tonight at Marshall about academic standards in the state.

It’s the latest in a series of town hall-style meetings being held around the state. They’ll examine the West Virginia Next Generation Standards for grades K-12. The meeting starts at 6:30 in the Memorial Student Center on Marshall’s campus.

The Department of Education will hold the next meeting in South Charleston on the Bridge Valley Community and Technical College campus. It’s scheduled for 6:30 pm on September 10th. Meetings are also planned at Concord University on the 17th, Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College on the 20th, West Liberty University on the 22nd and Shepherd University on the 29th.

The meetings are part of an effort to gather public input that began in July. The Department of Education is looking for feedback on English language arts and mathematics standards.
