Auditor: Legislature Saves $300K in Printing

An auditor says the West Virginia Legislature is saving $300,000 a year by taking care of its printing needs in-house.

In a letter presented to lawmakers Thursday, Legislative Post Audit Division Director Denny Rhodes wrote that the Legislature began its own printing in November 2015.

Previously, the Legislature contracted out its printing needs for bills, bill histories, Senate and House journals, calendars, and House and Senate indexes.

The letter says the first year of in-house printing saved about $300,000.

It says the change also has made printing more efficient and timely.
