Human Resources Director

West Virginia Public Broadcasting is looking for an individual to fill a full-time Human Resources Director position. The HR Director (Human Resources Director) is an experienced professional responsible for developing HR strategies, overseeing the administrative operations of the organization and ensuring compliance. They support and lead HR initiatives and provide guidance for West Virginia Public Broadcasting. The director will oversee all aspects of Human Resources including employee relations, compensation and benefits coordinator, performance management and training and organizational development. The position will also include the roles of payroll manager, travel coordinator, administrative manager and working alongside the Finance Department with purchasing, invoicing and billing. The director will supervise staff who are assigned to carry out specific roles within the department.  

The director reports to WVPB Executive Director. The position will be in the Charleston office. Some travel is required. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of supervisory and administrative principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports and presentations
  • Ability to organize and coordinate events.
  • Ability to evaluate existing programs and make recommendations to implement, improve and revise programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of organizations, agencies and individuals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university preferred.

5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles.

5+ years of experience in labor relations and employee relations.

5+ years of experience in a supervisory role.

Knowledge and experience with the State of West Virginia government employee policies and regulations preferred.

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a Full-Time, Exempt (40 hours/week, M-F) position. Benefits offered—medical, dental, eye, and state retirement.
