A West Virginia man accused of stealing 180 guns from the same pawn shop has pleaded guilty to multiple firearms charges.

Prosecutors say 23-year-old Robert Lee Reid of Branchland entered the pleas Monday in federal court in Huntington.

A former bookkeeper has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $183,000 in labor union funds in West Virginia.

Prosecutors say 70-year-old Joan Matthews of South Charleston entered the plea Monday in federal court in Charleston to felony embezzlement and theft of labor union assets.

Three lawsuits seeking damages following the industrial warehouse fire that burned for a week in Parkersburg have been moved from state to federal court.

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey says a state law prohibiting anonymous election pamphlets is unconstitutional.

Morrisey issued the opinion Tuesday in response to a request by Secretary of State Mac Warner. Both are Republicans.

  A company owned by billionaire coal businessman and gubernatorial candidate Jim Justice is in contempt of federal court after a judge says the company hasn't paid debts and has repeatedly failed to show up for court hearings.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that U.S. District Judge Irene Berger ordered Justice Energy Company in contempt on Jan. 5 for not paying a nearly $150,000 debt owed to a construction equipment company.

Federal court officials in the Southern District of West Virginia are warning residents about a scam involving jury service.

Officials say residents have reported being called by someone claiming to represent the court. The caller says the resident failed to report for grand jury duty, that an arrest warrant has been issued, and there will be a fine.

A federal judge has denied a motion from former Massey CEO Don Blankenship to delay his trial slated to begin October 1.

Judge Irene Berger issued the order Thursday.

Blankenship’s attorneys filed the motion to reschedule last week after receiving more than 70,000 documents from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office. Blankenship's attorneys said they needed more time to review the documents.

The fight for same-sex marriage has come to West Virginia with a lawsuit filed yesterday in federal court in Huntington. Currently the state defines marriage as between a man and a woman.  

Three same-sex couples filed suit yesterday morning in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. The lawsuit seeks the freedom to marry for three couples all from the surrounding Huntington area. One of those couples is Justin Murdock and William Glavaris. Murdock said they are glad to see things start to happen.
