Starting tomorrow, WV PBS Kids features an array of exciting Halloween programming, including an all-new one-hour special, Curious George: A Halloween Boo Fest, a new episode from Peg + Cat, as well as encore presentations of Halloween episodes from all of your favorite PBS KIDS series.

West Virginia Public Radio's part time classical music announcer, Frank Stowers, was among the 2013 class of inductees into the West Virginia Broadcasting Hall of Fame on October 12.

The remaining eight inductees are: Jack Kane, Ralph Allen, Charles Baily, Shirly "Kitty" Bocock, the late Tom Hicks, Kay Murray, Emil Varney and George Woody. 

Science journalist and public television host David Pogue will be the keynote speaker for the fifth biennial Science, Technology and Research Symposium, sponsored by the Division of Science and Research of the WV Higher Education Policy Commission.

The symposium takes place Oct. 22-23 in Morgantown.

Pogue is a New York Times columnist, author, CBS News correspondent and host of NOVA Science Now.

John Nakashima, a long-time producer for West Virginia Public Broadcasting has been honored for his body of work as the West Virginia Filmmaker of the Year at this past weekend’s West Virginia Filmmakers Festival (WVFF) in Sutton.

Now in its 14th year, the WVFF annually honors a West Virginia filmmaker whose most recent work or lifetime work has had the utmost impact on the West Virginia film industry. The WVFF is a competitive festival with many categories, including narrative, documentary, shorts, features, animation, horror, festival choice, and best film.

Today, PBS Kids launched a collection of new online and mobile games and activities from its newest media property Peg + Cat. The collection includes a new app: the Peg + Cat Big Gig App for iPad, Kindle Fire and other Android devices, in addition to online games and offline activities that families can enjoy together.

Sid the Science Kid will be at the October Sky Rocket Boys Festival on Saturday, Oct. 5 at New River Park from 1 to 3 p.m.

The walkabout character will assist at the launch pad and be available for photos.
