Mountain Stage Acts Nominated for 2016 International Bluegrass Music Awards

The 2016 International Bluegrass Music Awards nominations are in! We’re proud to see so many of Mountain Stage’s guests on the list. Click on the artist’s name to hear their recent performance on Mountain Stage.

Congratulations to Flatt Lonesome, who racked up five nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. Mountain Stage: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Lucinda Williams, Carolina Chocolate Drops

The Carolina Chocolate Drops are supporting frontwoman Rhiannon Giddens’ solo debut. Ivan & Alyosha are about to release a new record. Lucinda Williams is even hitting the folk festival circuit with her roots-rock’n hits. But before any of this happened, each of these musical peeps performed some great sets on the Mountain Stage, which we’ll revisit this week on “Mountain Stage After Midnight.”

Broadcast from 1am-5am Saturday and Sunday mornings here on West Virginia Public Broadcasting, “Mountain Stage After Midnight” takes the best episodes from the show’s 31 year history and shares their memories and songs with our late-night listeners.

Clear your schedules for some great tunes Saturday April 25 and Sunday April 26 on “Mountain Stage After Midnight.”

First up is a February 2011 show, recorded at the Civic Center’s Little Theater in Charleston, WV. It features Lucinda Williams, Red Horse, Low Anthem, Sarah Lee Guthrie & Johnny Irion and Ivan & Alyosha.

We’ll also hear a March 2011 show from Bristol, Tennessee (otherwise known as the birthplace of country music).
