WVPB Coverage of the Third Presidential Debate

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton go head-to-head in the third presidential debate Wednesday, October 19 at 9 p.m. This debate will follow the same format as the first presidential debate. It will be divided into six time segments of approximately 15 minutes each on major topics to be selected by Fox’s Chris Wallace, the moderator.

West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB) will provide extensive coverage of the debates our statewide TV and Radio networks, and online and wvpublic.org. Coverage begins at 9 p.m. EDT.

Portions of the debate with added analysis are highlighted, followed by context and fact check from NPR reporters and editors.

Watch or Listen to the Gubernatorial Debate on West Virginia Public Broadcasting

West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB) plans to provide live coverage of the first televised debate between GOP Senate President Bill Cole and Democratic candidate Jim Justice.

The debate is scheduled from 7 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4. It is sponsored by the West Virginia Press Association and AARP West Virginia.

West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s Ashton Marra will moderate the debate, and West Virginia Public Broadcasting is providing the pool feed of the event for other media.

The debate is scheduled to be broadcast on WVPB’s statewide television and radio network, and streamed online at wvpublic.org. WVPB reporters also plan to live-tweet the event from our @wvpublicnews Twitter account.

At 8 p.m. tune into the West Virginia Channel for a 30-minute roundtable discussion of the debate, hosted by Rick Lord of WCHS-TV. The roundtable will also be broadcast on WVPB’s radio network and on wvpublic.org.

At 8:30, WVPB’s radio network will air a Viewpoint special about the election. Additional coverage of the 2016 W.Va. general election is available through the Viewpoint weekly political podcast.

At 9 p.m, the Vice Presidential debate is scheduled to air on WVPB’s statewide television and radio network, and online at wvpublic.org.

Watch Alderson Broaddus vs. Fairmont State Football on the West Virginia Channel

The Alderson Broaddus football team will welcome 3-0 Fairmont State to town on Thursday, September 22. The game will air on the West Virginia Channel at 7 p.m.

The West Virginia Channel can be seen over the air on WNPB 24.2 Morgantown, WVPB 33.2 Huntington/Charleston and WSWP 9.2 Beckley.

Meet Clifford at WVPB Meet and Greet in Petersburg

  The public is invited to a West Virginia Public Broadcasting Meet and Greet on Thursday, July 7, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Welton Park Shelter #1, Petersburg.  Children will get to meet Clifford the Big Red Dog, and adults may chat with NPR newsman, and West Virginia native, Giles Snyder along with other WVPB staff and board members.

Light refreshments will be served. 

Clifford the Big Red Dog is the star of a beloved PBS children’s program, based on  a series of books by Norman Bridwell.  Clifford will appear at the Meet and Greet in the form of a large character costume, and will be happy to pose with children for photographs. 

Giles Snyder, originally from Charleston, has been at NPR headquarters since 2004, reporting national and international news.  Before moving to NPR, Snyder worked for WVPB for 16 years as radio program director, news anchor and reporter. A graduate of Marshall University with a B.A. in broadcast journalism, he has won numerous awards in recognition of his journalistic achievements.
