Mountain Stage Acts Nominated for 2016 International Bluegrass Music Awards

The 2016 International Bluegrass Music Awards nominations are in! We’re proud to see so many of Mountain Stage’s guests on the list. Click on the artist’s name to hear their recent performance on Mountain Stage.

Congratulations to Flatt Lonesome, who racked up five nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. We can’t wait to see this up-and-coming band make their Mountain Stage debut on August 13 during the Augusta Heritage Festival. Ticket and artist information is available at mountainstage.org.

Mountain Stage After Midnight: Regina Spektor, Yo La Tengo, Indigo Girls

This weekend, get ready to ooohhh and ahhhhh over a pair of 2009 shows featuring Regina Spektor, Yo La Tengo, Indigo Girls and more on Mountain Stage After Midnight.

Broadcast from 1am-5am Saturday and Sunday mornings here on West Virginia Public Broadcasting, Mountain Stage After Midnight takes the best episodes from the show’s 32 year history and shares their memories and songs with our late-night listeners.

Join us this Saturday September 5 and Sunday September 6 for Mountain Stage After Midnight for a great set of shows.

First, an episode from September 2009 featuring Indigo Girls, Chris Smither, Jill Hennessy, Alison Brown Band and Gary Jules.

In the mood for some great late night jams? Look no further than this weekend’s pair of “Mountain Stage After Midnight” performances, broadcast from 1am-5am Saturday and Sunday mornings here on West Virginia Public Radio. It’s all part of the improved radio schedule that we know you’ll appreciate, and we’re excited to be sharing the best memories from Mountain Stage’s 31 year history with our late night listeners. Each week, we’ll hand-pick two of our favorite episodes and they’ll alternate order each night.

Here’s what is in store for you Saturday July 12 and Sunday July 13 on “Mountain Stage After Midnight.”

First, an episode from October 2000 featuring Irish folk supergroup Solas, American banjo player Alison Brown, Canadian folk band The Paper Boys, singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, and rootsy group Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. We taped this show in “the other Charleston” (in South Carolina). 

Next, you’ll hear an episode featuring the late/great Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, American folk/blues artist Chris Smither, blues singer Tracy Nelson, Canadian guitarist Sue Foley, and California singer Chuck Prophet.
