One of the things we typically take for granted is that our water is safe. Safe to drink. Safe to give our children. But three hundred thousand West Virginians are no longer sure–and we all have questions. Dan Ringer talks about safe water in West Virginia on a special hour long The Law Works. Guests include Alan M. Ducatman, M.D., West Virginia University; Paul F. Ziemkiewicz, Ph.D., Director of the West Virginia Water Research Institute; and Professor Patrick C. McGinley, West Virginia University College of Law.

Charleston, W.Va. – January 9, 2014 The Legislature Today, West Virginia’s only statewide source for in-depth coverage of legislative issues and debates, begins its 20th season on Monday. The program airs live Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. on West Virginia PBS and West Virginia Public Radio. There will also be a rebroadcast at 11:30 p.m. on WV PBS each week night and at 6 a.m. the next day on WV PBS.2.*

“For 20 years, West Virginia Public Broadcasting has been the only media outlet with a daily television program dedicated to the stories of how our state legislature works and what’s important to our state’s citizens,” said Scott Finn, executive director. “This year we are simulcasting the live program on statewide public radio for the first time. We will also have digital features on our website and social media.”

Producer and host Beth Vorhees will be joined by reporters Aaron Payne covering the House of Delegates, and Ashton Marra, covering the Senate.  Dave Mistich will cover committee meetings and evening sessions and report progress at wvpublic.org and @wvpubnews on Twitter. (Hashtag #wvlegtoday)

Each half-hour program includes reports from the floors of both houses along with committee news and live on-set interviews. The first week of the program features the following guests:

  • Monday, Jan. 13 — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin
  • Tuesday, Jan. 14 — Senate President Jeff Kessler
  • Wednesday, Jan. 15 — House Speaker Tim Miley
  • Thursday, Jan. 16 — Sen. Mike Hall, Senate Minority Leader, and Del. Tim Armstead, House Minority Leader

The Legislature Today will replace Nightly Business Report on WV PBS during the legislative session. On West Virginia Public Radio, Marketplace will move to 6 p.m.

Morrison brings a fresh sound to cherished Christmas classics including “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “O Holy Night” along with re-envisioned versions of standards, including “The Lady Is a Tramp” and “It Don’t Mean a Thing.”

The digitally re-mastered production numbers are complete with magnificent sets and costumes and a cast of singers, dancers and skaters. Quintessential moments include Williams’ solos on “Silent Night” and “Ave Maria,” as well as performances with his brothers on “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and with the Osmonds on “Silver Bells.” Interviews with Williams, his son Bobby and Donny Osmond are interwoven with the show clips.

Highlights include: A tour through the beautiful village where Chef Keller grew up and its medieval Christmas market; Stops at Chef Keller’s favorite cheese store and restaurant, plus an Alsatian winery; A finale at a spectacular Christmas dinner attended by Chef Keller’s family and friends.
