On this West Virginia Morning, the city of Huntington begins the new year as a state and national leader in creating an inclusive community for the LGBTQ population. With some civil rights under attack at the state level, and a new Huntington mayor taking office, will the River City’s inclusivity stay strong? Randy Yohe reports.
Plus, the Tennessee Department of Correction changed its policy about who is allowed to mail books to prisoners. The revised rule means nonprofits that have sent free books to prisoners for over fifty years can’t serve Tennessee anymore. Nashville public radio station WPLN-FM brings us this story.
Also on this episode, Statehouse Reporter Caelan Bailey briefs us on a slate of inauguration events kicking of Jan. 13.
