Original Post: Sept. 22, 2018-There are still tickets available to this Sunday’s Mountain Stage with Larry Groce, when the show welcomes Amanda Shires, The War and Treaty, Israel Nash, Teitur and Byron Isaacs. If you can’t join us here in our home town of Charleston, W.Va., you’ll be able to join us live wherever you are, thanks to our video production team at West Virginia Public Broadcasting and our partners at VuHaus.

Watch along as we record episode #931 at the Culture Center Theater with Shires, whose new record “To The Sunset,” has garnered praise across the board for it’s artistic breadth. The Charleston-Gazette Mail caught up with Shires, who will join us for the fourth time on Sunday.

The debut full-length album from The War and Treaty, “Rising Tide,” has built huge buzz for the band with it’s powerful, engergetic sound. You won’t want to miss this band in action.
 

We’re also excited to welcome back Teitur, a songwriter from the Faroe Islands whose new album, “I Want To be Kind,” is filled with his charming, thoughtful songwriting.

We’ll also have live sets from Israel Nash (new album “Lifted” was released in July) and Byron Isaacs, who has played with Ollabelle and The Lumineers, with songs from his new solo effort “Disappearing Man.”

While you’re getting prepped for the show, you can check out the bittersweet new single from Lucy Wainwright Roche, “Soft Line,” which premiered over at Pop Matters recently. You’ll recognize some faces in the video, as both Emily Saliers and Amy Ray from Indigo Girls have guest appearances on Lucy’s upcoming album “Little Beast.”

WATCH: James McMurtry, Inara George and More on Mountain Stage This Sunday

The lineup for Sunday’s Mountain Stage with Larry Groce is going to be an Americana honors class that embraces our diverse love of music here in Charleston, W.V.  We’ll welcome James McMurtry, The Low Anthem, Inara George and John Moreland.

Any available tickets will be placed on sale for $35 at the venue on Sunday, starting at 5p.m.

If you can’t join us in person, we have good news. Thanks to the WVPB Video Production team and our partners at VuHaus, you can watch the show LIVE from anywhere with an internet connection. Just point your browser to MountainStage.org or VuHaus.com at 7p.m. EDT this Sunday, and watch along.

We’ll hear songs from Inara George’s crittically acclaimed new release “Dearest Everybody” when she joins us this Sunday on Mountain Stage.

After making 19 appearances as a guest-artist on Mountain Stage with Larry Groce, West Virgina’s own country music royalty Kathy Mattea steps up to host the show this Sunday in Charleston, WV. Mattea will welcome performances from Seamus Egan Project, Cheryl Wheeler, Sam Baker, The Mulligan Brothers and Kenny White.

Tickets were still available, as of this writing, online and at Taylor Books in downtown Charleston.

Mountain Stage with Larry Groce will celebrate its 34th Anniversary this Sunday, December 3 at the Culture Center Theater on the grounds of the State Capitol. Doors open at 6:30p.m. and the show starts at 7p.m., but you should make plans to arrive early because we have a couple of special surprises for our ticket holders, so keep reading. We will welcome The Mountain Goats, Nellie McKay, John K. Samson and Joe Henry. As of Friday morning tickets are still available online, by phone at 800.987.6487, and locally at Taylor Books in downtown, Charleston.

While there’s nothing quite like being at Mountain Stage live, those of you who aren’t in the area or can’t make the show can now watch live from anywhere with an internet connection thanks to the WVPB Video Production team and our colleagues at VuHaus. Joe Henry, who made his first appearance on Mountain Stage in 1991, did an enlightening interview with Rob Byers at the Charleston Gazette-Mail, which even delves into the reason he wrote the song “Hurricane, W.Va.” from his 1986 album “Talk of Heaven.”

Produced by West Virginia Public Broadcasting and distributed by NPR Music, Mountain Stage is currently heard weekly on 200 public radio stations across the country. The December 3 show will be scheduled for national broadcast in Spring 2018.
