The October events include:

  • Logan County: Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay
  • Jefferson County: Oct.  8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kearneysville DOH Garage located at 1301 Old Leetown Pike, Kearneysville, WV 25430
  • Roane County: Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bowman Street Parking Lot in Spencer
  • Kanawha County: Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the parking lot at the intersection of C Street and 4th Avenue in South Charleston
  • Upshur County: Oct. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from the City of Buckhannon Recycling Center at 395 Mud Lick Road
  • Logan County: Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay
  • Cabell County: Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 800 Virginia Avenue in Huntington
  • Pendleton County: Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pendleton County Economic Development Authority Lot located at 100 Thorn Creek Road in Franklin

The November events include:

  • Greenbrier County: Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Rainelle
  • Logan County: Nov. 4 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Old KCity Lot on Enterprise Drive in Mount Gay.
  • Jackson County: Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the County Fairgrounds on Route 33 in Cottageville
  • Hampshire County: Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hampshire County Fairgrounds on Fairground Drive in Augusta
  • Wirt County: Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ellisons Dozer Service on Route 14 in Elizabeth

Car or light truck tires, 16 inches or less and off the rims are accepted, with a limit of 10 tires per West Virginia resident.

The Department of Environmental Protection said two events will be held June 4 at Lincoln County High School in Hamlin and at Leslie Equipment in the Webster County community of Cowen. There are other collections June 11 at the Kenton Meadows Warehouse in the Braxton County community of Gassaway and on June 18 at Erickson Field in Parkersburg.

Individuals can dispose of up to 10 tires per person. The tires must be off the rims and only car and light truck tires will be accepted, the DEP said in a news release.

There are several opportunities to get rid of up to 10 tires per person for free this month in West Virginia. The disposal days are part of a program with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) called Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP). The events are for car and light truck tires only, not rims. Drivers should stay in their vehicles when dropping off tires.

The events include:

  • Barbour County: Thursday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Barbour County Fairgrounds
  • Grant County: Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the RCS Transport Lot at 2 Airport Road in Petersburg
  • Berkeley County: Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Southern Berkeley Recycling Center at 637 Pilgrim St. in Inwood
  • Greenbrier County: Thursday, May 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Greenbrier County Landfill
  • Mineral County: Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tomar Inc. Trucking Lot on Glass Plant Access Road in Keyser
  • McDowell County: Wednesday, May 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the old Walmart in Kimball.

Some counties have ongoing tire collections such as the following:

  • Boone County: Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Boone County Recycling Center.
  • Brooke County: Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Brooke County Recycling Center
  • Calhoun County: The third (3rd) Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cabot Station Recycling Center on Rt. 5, two miles West of Grantsville
  • Fayette County: The third (3rd) Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kevin’s Auto Sales and RVs on Route 19 in Scarbro
  • Hancock County: Call Hancock County Solid Waste Authority at 304-459-3269 for more information
  • Mason County: Call Mason Co​unty Recycling Center at 304-675-7855 for more information
  • Mercer County: The first (1st) Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mercer County Landfill
  • Monroe County: The second (2nd) Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at the Monroe County Recycling Center

  • Tucker County: The first (1st) Thursday of each month from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tucker County Landfill
  • Wayne County: The first (1st) Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wayne County Solid Waste Authority
  • Wyoming County: The first (1st) Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wyoming County Landfill​

Several communities are working to remove the tires and other trash from rivers in order to increase tourism in southern W.Va.

The events are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 23 behind the Go-Mart in the Cabin Creek community in Kanawha County, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 23 at Clay County High School, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 at the Old Oak Ridge Trucking Lot in Elkins and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 30 at the HL Wilson Trucking Lot in Moorefield, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection said.

Each person may dispose of up to 10 tires. The tires must be off the rims. Only car and light truck tires are accepted, the agency said.

Ongoing tire collections are held regularly in Boone, Brooke, Calhoun, Fayette, Hancock, Mason, Mercer, Monroe, Pocahontas, Putnam, Tucker, Wayne and Wyoming counties.
