Japanese truck maker Hino Motors Manufacturing is set to open its new West Virginia assembly plant this summer.

Hino Motors has scheduled an Aug. 21 grand opening for the facility in Mineral Wells. The company is moving about 20 miles to a larger location at a former retail distribution center.

Hino Motors currently assembles medium-duty trucks at a 245,000-square-foot facility that opened in 2007 in the Wood County community of Williamstown.

Company President Takashi Ono has said the $100 million investment could create up to 250 new jobs.

Hino Motors is owned by the Toyota Group and its American headquarters are in Novi, Michigan.

W.Va. Company Opens $2 Million Facility

A West Virginia company is opening a $2 million facility expected to draw 18 new jobs related to the natural gas industry.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin attended Conley Fabrication’s new facility opening Wednesday.

Roger Conley started the company in 2010 with six employees who repaired trailers and truck bodies. In 2011, the company began building custom bodies for dump trucks and transportation manufacturing.

The latest expansion will serve the state’s growing natural gas industry. Conley Fabrication builds products from aluminum, steel and stainless steel.

The company employs 18 people. With the new 30,000-square-foot facility, employment is expected to double.

The governor’s Guaranteed Workforce Program helps fund specialized employee training for Conley Fabrication.

The state Industrial Road Fund assists in turning the 27-acre property containing Conley Fabrication into a business park.
