The Drug Enforcement Administration will host its annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at pharmacies, grocery stores and law enforcement offices across the state.
Workers will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs, but not syringes, needles or illegal drugs.
The annual event is an effort to safely dispose of medications that are old, expired or no longer needed, and to prevent drug misuse and abuse.
Since the program began 16 years ago it has removed nearly 20 million pounds of medication from circulation.
