On this week’s premiere broadcast on Mountain Stage, guest host David Mayfield welcomes Solas, Tim O’Brien & Jan Fabricius, Amanda Cook Band, Clymer & Kurtz, and Darrin Hacquard.
Our Song of the Week is “Blacktop Ragmop” by country-bluegrass multi-instrumentalists and husband-wife duo, Tim O’Brien and Jan Fabricius. O’Brien is our most-frequent guest artist, with over 30 appearances on Mountain Stage, including a guest host spot in 2014. The duo released their debut collaboration “Paper Flowers” in 2025, and they perform songs from that album on this week’s broadcast.
Tune in to one of these NPR stations starting Friday, March 27 to hear this and more from Tim and Jan, plus live performances by Irish-American group Solas, Virginia-based bluegrass group Amanda Cook Band, contemporary folk singer-songwriter duo Clymer & Kurtz, and story-driven songwriting from West Virginia-based singer-songwriter Darrin Hacquard.
