On this West Virginia Week, the legislature prepares to wrap up its 2025 regular session as both chambers work to pass a balanced budget – Gov. Patrick Morrisey is keeping a close eye on the process.

One of the more contentious bills: an effort to prohibit diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in the state.

State and federal officials are also eyeing big changes to the low income nutrition assistance program. We’ll have the details on the governor’s inaugural Rhododendron Roll at the State Capitol this weekend. And we’ll take you to a place where a hot dog is so much more than a hot dog.

Maria Young is our host this week. Our theme music is by Matt Jackfert.

West Virginia Week is a web-only podcast that explores the week’s biggest news in the Mountain State. It’s produced with help from Bill Lynch, Briana Heaney, Chris Schulz, Curtis Tate, Emily Rice, Eric Douglas, Jack Walker, Maria Young and Randy Yohe.
