Adam is the Executive Producer of Mountain Stage, and he welcomes the audience before each taping begins. Adam is a native of Greenbrier County and graduated from Radford University in 2005 with a degree in Music Business and minor in Media Studies. After completing an internship with Mountain Stage, he was hired as Assistant Producer in October 2005. He became Executive Producer when his predecessor and the show's co-founder Andy Ridenour retired in August 2011.

New Live Shows Announced for Mountain Stage

Mountain Stage w/ Larry Groce announces four new events scheduled at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston. Tickets for all four events go on sale Thursday, March 20 at 8 a.m.

Sunday, May 18 – Mountain Stage welcomes acclaimed songwriter Rodney Crowell featuring renowned guitarist Steuart Smith (the Eagles) and Friends. Crowell and Emmylou Harris brought home the “Best Americana Album” at this year’s Grammy Award for their duet release “Old Yellow Moon.” Also appearing May 18 is Virginia based modern string band The Infamous Stringdusters and up-and-coming alternative folk rockers Elephant Revival.

Sunday, June 1 — Mountain Stage welcomes back critically acclaimed Austin, Texas based singer and songwriter Patty Griffin, whose latest “Silver Bells” was recorded in 2000 but only recently released. Also featured on this show will be the reunited 90s-pop hit makers Toad the Wet Sprocket, who released “New Constellation” last year to wide acclaim. Their hits include “Walk on the Ocean” and “Good Intentions.” Parker Milsap, who is currently touring with Griffin, will make his first Mountain Stage appearance.

On Sunday, June 8, Mountain Stage will welcome for the first time Twin Forks, a band that includes former Dashboard Confessional front man Chris Carrabba, and The Autumn Defense, featuring Pat Sansone and John Stirratt of Wilco. Their latest,”Fifth,” has a wonderful jangle-pop sound as you’ll hear below.

FestivALL Charleston is June 20-29, 2014.

Finally, on Sunday, June 29 Mountain Stage will be a part of the 10th annual FestivALL Charleston, a city-wide arts and entertainment event that runs from June 20-29. The final FestivALL event will be a Mountain Stage performance featuring St. Paul and the Broken Bones from Birmingham, Ala. The group of young soul musicians features the vocals of Paul Janeway and recently released their full-length debut album “Half The City”. Most recently the band was listed by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of “48 Best Things We Saw at South By Southwest.”

Tickets for all four of these shows will be available Thursday, March 20 at 8 a.m. Advance Tickets are $15, Day of Show $25, available at MountainStage.org, by phone at 800.594.TIXX(8499) or locally at Taylor Books, 222 Capitol St., Charleston.  All four Mountain Stage events will be at the Culture Center Theater, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. in Charleston. Townes Van Zandt on Mountain Stage

Legendary Texas singer and songwriter Townes Van Zandt made three appearances on “Mountain Stage w/ Larry Groce” before his death in 1997. In honor of his birthday we’re sharing two songs from his 1995 appearance; “If I Needed You” and “Buckskin Stallion Blues.”

The latter is available via Amazon Mp3 as part of the “Best of Mountain Stage” CD series.

Mountain Stage Offers FREE Admission to Thank Community After Water Crisis

So many West Virginians have responded to the water crisis by helping their community. We’ve checked on elderly neighbors, we’ve delivered bottled water to the needy. Our emergency workers have put in long hours to restore our way of life.

So we’re saying “thank you” on Sunday by making this week’s Mountain Stage show free to the public. People who attend the show will be encouraged to donate to non-profit groups that are helping people hurt by the crisis.

“This is a chance for West Virginia Public Broadcasting and our program, Mountain Stage, to show our community how much we appreciate what they did during the water crisis,” said Executive Director Scott Finn.

The Sunday, January 19 show is at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m. Free tickets can be picked up at the Culture Center box office starting at 5 p.m. on a first-come-first serve basis.

“We’re starting 2014 over with a New Year’s Party at Mountain Stage,” said Mountain Stage host and artistic director Larry Groce. “January 19 is the new January 1! After the water disruption and the extreme weather, we all need a chance to re-boot and I think an evening of good music seems like a fine way to do it.”

Sunday’s show features soul and R&B singer Bettye LaVette, Israeli superstar David Broza, family-based North Carolina quartet Matrimony, modern Irish singer/songwriter Declan O’Rourke and Noah Gundersen from Seattle, Wash. More information on the show can be found on the Mountain Stage website.

“Please be our guest at this Sunday’s show, and if your budget allows it, we hope you’ll use your ticket money to have dinner at your favorite restaurant before you come, and be generous to the staff who have been unable to work in the past week,” Groce said.

“Let’s celebrate our family, friends, community and everyone who pitched in to help keep things going during the recent crisis.”

Anyone who already purchased a ticket may exchange it at the box office for a gift certificate or a ticket to an upcoming show.
