Board of Ed Member White Tapped for Minority Affairs Post

Gov. Jim Justice said in a news release that Bill White will leave his position on the state Board of Education to lead the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs.

White, who is black,  has served on the state board since 2010. He said one of the first things he would do as director is make the responsibilities of the Office of Minority Affairs more clear to the public.

“I plan to do PSAs and look at other ways so that everybody in the state understands who we are and what we are supposed to be doing,” he said.

Justice wrote that White will help his administration “make West Virginia a more welcoming place for all people.”

A Bluefield native, White founded The Management Development Group, which specialized in organization development consulting to Fortune 100 companies.

He’s worked as a research chemist and executive in the pharmaceutical industry and was executive producer of a diversity training video used by governments, the private sector and nonprofit groups.
