The board made the cuts at a special meeting Tuesday to account for a multi-million dollar shortfall. The cuts will consolidate and eliminate positions.

The school system hopes to have the budget approved by the State Board of Education in May.

Wayne County Board Site Hacked

The Wayne County Board of Education’s website was hacked Wednesday. Those claiming responsibility say they’re members of a terrorist organization.

In the early morning hours Wednesday the website was hacked by someone claiming to be part of the Islamic State. When users visited the Board of Education website they were re-directed to another site which promotes Islamic terrorism.

The West Virginia State Police’s Digital Forensics Unit and the FBI are investigating the incident. According to the state police this type of incident is occurring more often across the country. No specific threats were made and the state police says it’s just a tactic used to install fear in the general public.

Any questions should be directed to the state police.
