On Sunday March 3 we welcome back perennial jamgrass innovators Leftover Salmon, who are celebrating the February release of their new book by Tim Newby, “30 Years of Festival.” Emerging traditional Irish group The Jeremiahs will join us as well. This show falls during Charleston’s Celtic Calling weekend of events. More guests will be announced soon.

March 24 marks the return of our frequent guest and long-time friend Tim O’Brien with a new batch of songs and a new bluegrass configuration. Joining the bill will be 2018 IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys. More info here.

The show returns to Morgantown, WV on Sunday April 28 as guests of WVU Arts & Entertainment. We will mark the highly anticipated return of indie-folk charmers Darlingside, whose first appearance on Mountain Stage wowed audiences in person and on radio. All tickets are reserved seating in Morgantown and are on sale here.

The indefinable sound of multi-instrumentalist David Bromberg and his Quintet will be featured guests on Sunday May 12 in Charleston. This roots music mainstay’s new record, The Blues, the Whole Blues, and Nothing But the Blues, was produced by Larry Campbell and finds the Americana godfather touching on the blues music that inspired him early-on.

Elizabeth Cook, Qiet Added to July 31 Mountain Stage

Alt-country singer-songwriter Elizabeth Cook and West Virginia-based rockers Qiet have been added to the bill for Mountain Stage’s live production Sunday, July 31 at the Culture Center Theater. As previously announced, the show will also feature  jam-grass favorites Leftover Salmon. Advance tickets are $20, available online, by phone at 877-987-6487 or locally at Taylor Books in downtown Charleston.

Cook is prepared to release “Exodus of Venus” on June 17, and the powerful video for “Slow Pain” premiered recently via Galore. This will make Cook’s 4th appearance on Mountain Stage since 2002.

Beloved gypsy rockers Qiet will make their Mountain Stage debut on July 31, with songs from the recently released crowd-funded project “Kiss The Universe.” They’ve built a dedicated following by blazing their own path throughout our state and the region with their jangly blend of performance art and Appalachian charm.

Leftover Salmon to Appear on Mountain Stage

Mountain Stage with LarryGroce, the long-running live-performance radio program from NPR Music and West Virginia Public Broadcasting, is pleased to announce that jam band extraordinaire Leftover Salmon will return to Mountain Stage on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Culture Center Theater in Charleston.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of show, available Friday, April 22 at 10 a.m. on mountainstage.org, by phone at 877-987-6487, locally atTaylor Booksin downtown Charleston and also at Mountain Stage’supcoming live shows.

Since their debut in 1989, Leftover Salmon have become “one of the most beloved acts on America’s summer-festival circuit,” creating a shoe-tapping mix of bluegrass, country, rock and Cajun music that is sure to please. Since their last appearance on the Mountain Stage back in 2013, the Colorado jam band have expanded their ranks to include Bill Payne (co-founder of the celebrated country rock outfit Little Feat) and added two more rootsy, string-based records to their name.

Their latest release is 25, a live compilation album that celebrates Leftover Salmon’s 25 years of neo-bluegrass and features 25 live performances recorded over the course of two years, including this 2013 performance of “Here Comes the Night.”
