Downton Abbey Rediscovered Relives Favorite Moments of Past Seasons

Savor favorite moments from past seasons on Sunday, September 20 at 8 p.m.

For the millions of devoted “Downton Abbey” fans eagerly looking forward to the Season 6 premiere in January,  we are offering a respite — “Downton Abbey Rediscovered”,  a fond look back at the best-loved moments from the past five seasons. Hosted by PBS president and chief executive officer Paula Kerger, “Downton Abbey Rediscovered” celebrates the series that The Hollywood Reporter praised as “an absolute pleasure to watch,” with a mix of behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with producers and cast members, and clips of favorite scenes. 

Structured around three themes, “Downton Abbey Rediscovered” explores “Downton Abbey: Up to Now,” “The Men of Downton and the Women They Love” and “Love, Lies and Scandal at Downton Abbey.”

Cast members interviewed include Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Jim Carter, Joanne Froggatt, Laura Carmichael, Robert James-Collier and Kevin Doyle.

Interviews with creator and writer Julian Fellowes and executive producers Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge provide insights into the series, renowned for its drama, rivalry, intrigue, jealousy, ambition and romance.

The highest-rated drama in PBS history, “Downton Abbey” has continued to captivate viewers for five seasons with its intimately interlaced stories centered on an English country estate. Audiences have been gripped by the wrenching social changes, romantic intrigues and personal crises faced by the Crawley family and the household staff. Last season saw surprising scandals, joyful moments and dramatic twists and turns that left viewers intrigued and awaiting the Season 6 conclusion.

Public Premieres Give A "Sneak Peek" At Downton Abbey Season 5

Would you like to see the entire first episode of Masterpiece’s Downton Abbey, Season 5 in a theater (and before all the spoilers start coming in?) Call your friends and make a date to join us for these special premiere events  in Beckley (December 7), Charleston (December 9), and Morgantown (December 14)!

These events are free, no RSVP necessary, and seating is on a first-come basis. The returning cast includes Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle,
Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Rob James-Collier, Lily James, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan,
Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, Dame Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton, and a host of
others, joined by Shirley MacLaine (Oscar® for Best Actress, Terms of Endearment), who reprises her role as Martha Levinson, the forthright American mother of Cora, Countess of Grantham (McGovern). Martha again battles wits with Cora’s wickedly acerbic mother-in-law, Violet (Smith).

A welcome treat for millions of viewers eagerly awaiting the debut of the new season of “Downton Abbey.” Return To Downton Abbey savors fond memories from the past three seasons and offers a tantalizing taste of Season 4. Hosted by Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon — a devoted fan of the series who especially admires the writing of fellow Julian Fellowes — the program includes a mix of behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with creators and cast members, and video clips of favorite moments.

Downton Abbey” has captivated viewers worldwide, each season building on the love affair with the series that began three years ago.
