Compassionate language plays a crucial part in discussing the drug epidemic. This language is also medically accurate, as clinicians' diagnostic manuals have changed.

West Virginia Health Right (WVHR) will host its third annual #WeCareWV Day on Oct. 17, a free walk-in medical, dental, and vision clinic for anyone in need.

More than 200 volunteers, including doctors, nurses, dentists, eye care professionals, and community members, are expected to serve more than 500 people in need of free healthcare.

The clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at the WV Health Right East End Clinic located at 1520 Washington Street East in Charleston.

Recent cuts to the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credits have caused 10% fewer West Virginians to apply for healthcare coverage.

Because of the increased number of uninsured West Virginians, organizers are preparing to serve more people than ever before.

Health clinics like this can prevent future emergency room visits, manage chronic conditions and help identify serious health issues before they become life-threatening.

WVHR is the state’s largest free and charitable clinic, serving over 47,975 uninsured and underinsured adults in 35 counties. It provides comprehensive healthcare services, including medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and health education.

WVHR supports the working poor, ensuring access to essential healthcare, which helps individuals obtain and retain employment without sacrificing their health.
