The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection will hold a public hearing Thursday in Mingo County.
DEP’s Division of Air Quality will hear public comments starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Larry Joe Harless Community Center in Gilbert.
The DEP is considering two permits sought by TransGas Development Systems for an off-grid power generation facility in two locations.
Together, they encompass the Adams Fork data center project. The sites will each generate 2,400 megawatts of electricity from natural gas or diesel, making them among the biggest power plants statewide.
In July, the DEP determined that the facilities met applicable federal and state air quality standards. The DEP held a virtual hearing last month on the permits.
The agency will accept written comments until 5 p.m. on Friday.
TransGas projects it can begin generating electricity in 2027.
