Early Voting Oct. 23 To Nov. 2

Any registered voter can cast their ballot ahead of Election Day, starting on Wednesday, October 23. Early voting runs through Saturday, November 2, including weekdays and two Saturdays.

Voters can go to govotewv.com, call their local county clerk, or call the Secretary of State at (304) 558-6000 to find their polling place and more voting information.

Deak Kersey, chief of staff for the Secretary of State said, following the state implementing a voter ID law in 2018, it’s important for voters to bring up-to-date documentation such as a driver’s license.

Anything that’s official from the government that shows your address is a valid identifying document,” Kersey said. “We just want to remind folks to bring that with you.

In the case that someone requested an absentee ballot but is available to vote early in-person, Kersey said they should bring the ballot that was mailed to them to their local polling place, give it to poll workers, and instead cast an in-person vote there.

“So we really encourage folks that did apply to vote absentee, who are able to vote in person after they requested the ballot to bring that ballot with them, that way they could vote a regular ballot that gets counted on election night,” Kersey said.
Each county has at least one in-person early voting location, either in the county courthouse or its annex. Some counties also have satellite precincts.
