On this week’s premiere broadcast of Mountain Stage, Kathy Mattea welcomes Brandy Clark, Steep Canyon Rangers, Tristen, and Philip Bowen to the Culture Center Theater in Charleston, WV.
Our Song of the Week comes from Tristen, a Nashville-based artist who has built a reputation for crafting melody-driven songs rooted in clever, story-forward lyricism. During her most recent visit to Mountain Stage, she performed “Skin of Our Teeth” off of her fifth studio album, Unpopular Music, which was released last year.
“We love playing Mountain Stage- a wonderful thing going here”, Tristen said introducing the song to the live-audience in Charleston, “and I just want to congratulate all of you out there for being a part of the fringes of society that still come to see live music.” Adding, “This song is about the fiery furnace of ambition.”
Also joining us this week are GRAMMY and CMA Award-Winner Brandy Clark, Asheville, NC roots group Steep Canyon Rangers, and West Virginian singer-songwriter and fiddle player Philip Bowen.
