This week, too often, people with mental health challenges or substance use disorder wind up in jail. But crisis response teams offer another way. Also, changes to the Endangered Species Act could benefit big business. They could also kill animals like the eastern hellbender. And, in troubled times, a West Virginia writer says to find peace in nature.
Our Song of the Week comes from singer-songwriter and guitarist Joy Clark. “Tell It To The Wind” was written in a moment of gratitude while Clark was on tour in Waterford, Mississippi at Foxfire Ranch. In this moment, she realized she had everything she dreamed of as a child. On her Band Camp page, Joy writes “I had my guitar, my boots, and horses! My heart was filled with gratitude and instantly I had an entire chorus.”
Tune in to one of these affiliate stations starting Friday, Dec. 5 to hear Clark’s full set, plus live performances by country singer and songwriter Kip Moore, Old Dominion guitarist and hit songwriter Brad Tursi, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Marlin of Watchhouse and Mighty Poplar brings the Andrew Marlin Stringband, and West Virginia “Ya’llternative” rock band Matt Mullins & The Bringdowns.
On this week's premiere broadcast of Mountain Stage, guest host David Mayfield welcomes Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel, John Pizzarelli, Peter Case, Mollie O’Brien & Rich Moore, and Jedd Hughes.
Our premiere spring broadcast season continues as host Kathy Mattea welcomes Patrick Watson, John Gorka, Anna Tivel, Shelby Means, and Liza Lo on this week's episode of Mountain Stage.
