This week’s Mountain Stage was recorded in the intimate space of the historic Franklin Theatre in Franklin, Tennessee. Host Kathy Mattea welcomes some of Americana’s top artists, including Grammy Award-winning musician Jason Isbell.
Jason Isbell started his career in the company of the Drive-by Truckers songwriter and guitarist, later going out on his own and forming his band The 400 Unit. With the release of his 2023 album Weathervanes, Isbell’s voice is stronger than ever and his beautifully crafted songwriting reaches listeners in profound ways.
Our Song of the Week is his performance of “Strawberry Woman,” which appears on Weathervanes.
