West Virginia environmental regulators are fining the Mingo County Public Service District $12,000 for releasing pollutants into a nearby waterway.

In a consent order signed by Mingo PSD Manager J.B. Heflin last month, the Department of Environmental Protection found issues around the Chattaroy collection system and pump station in Delbarton.

The order says DEP found the facility exceeded its permit limits of pollutants sent into waterways 81 times from the first quarter of 2012 through the first quarter of 2014.

They found an additional 14 instances from the second quarter of 2014 through the first quarter of 2015.

In April 2014, DEP says an overflow spill was not immediately reported at the main lift station in Shadee Woods subdivision. They saw deposits and a sludge bank below the station’s outfall.
