The town of Sistersville, West Virginia is home to the last ferry crossing in the Mountain State. The Sistersville Ferry has been serving this tiny Tyler County community for more than 200 years, and when it reopens next spring, there will be a new pilot at the helm. Reporter Zack Harold stopped by to witness the last ride of Captain Bo Hause.

This week’s encore broadcast of Mountain Stage will start Friday, June 2, 2023. This re-broadcast is from our 2022 fall season, and features Ireland’s We Banjo 3, Memphis’ modern soul band Southern Avenue, eclectic rock band Cordovas, Canadian acoustic blues belter Matt Andersen, and the folk-rock diva from New Orleans, Lilli Lewis.
Ireland’s progressive roots group We Banjo 3 made their second appearance on Mountain Stage during this visit. The Galway, Ireland, and Nashville-based quartet––comprised of two sets of brothers, Enda & Fergal Scahill and Martin & David Howley, the band incorporates banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar and percussion beside strong choruses and melodic hooks, to create their buzz-worth live shows.
Our Song of the Week is the band’s performance of “Garden Song,” which is included on their album Open The Road.
