Since Yeager’s Airport’s runway extension is no longer going forward, the Environmental Impact Statement that went with it has been dropped.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported the change this week in the Federal Register.

The project would have extended the runway 285 feet to a total length of 7,000 feet.

The airport instead will focus on efforts to modernize its aging terminal facilities.

The Federal Register notice cited operational changes at the airport since the runway extension was proposed in 2022. Last year, Spirit Airlines discontinued service at Yeager, while Breeze Airways began service.

That resulted in different types of aircraft taking off and landing at the airport, the notice said.
