Against the flurry of activity inside the state Capitol this weekend, as lawmakers work to finalize the 2025 session, Gov. Patrick Morrisey and First Lady Denise Morrisey will host West Virginia’s inaugural Rhododendron Roll on the Governor’s Mansion Courtyard and Capitol Lawn.
A scavenger hunt, hidden eggs, a petting zoo – and an early visit from one particular rabbit – are all part of the activities planned from 11 to 1 on Saturday. There will also be a special hunt for golden tickets.
There will be food trucks along Kanawha Boulevard and a fun zone that includes bouncy houses, face painting, interactive games and more.
Morrisey said he and his wife are excited to welcome folks to the Easter celebration.
“I hope folks come and bring their families and spend some time, find some Easter eggs hidden around, and there are going to be some prizes and a lot of fun for everyone,” Morrisey said.
“We’re going to have a special treat. The Easter Bunny is going to be coming. It’s going to be coming a little early. You know, we know that Easter isn’t quite yet, but we’re excited for that,” he added.
The first 250 attendees to arrive will receive commemorative Easter eggs. Children who find golden tickets during the easter egg hunt will win bikes, iPads and more. The event is free and open to the public.
