Concrete Panel Falls From Wheeling Stadium

Repair efforts are underway at a Wheeling stadium after a large concrete panel fell from the seating area.

Media outlets report that contractors were using a crane to remove a panel they found damaged Friday at Wheeling Island Stadium. Upon the panel’s removal, an adjacent panel came loose and fell to the ground.

Ohio County Schools Superintendent Kim Miller says no one was hurt in the incident. The slab destroyed part of a fence that surrounds the stadium.

Structural engineers were expected at the stadium Tuesday to inspect the damage and propose a solution.

There’s not yet an estimate on how much the repair will cost or how long it will take.
