Inside Appalachia Associate Producer (Part-time)

Inside Appalachia is a weekly news magazine show focusing on Appalachia as defined by the Appalachian Regional Commission. It tells the region’s story through stories about culture, history, music and current events. 

The Associate Producer will work directly with the Inside Appalachia Producer to make sure all aspects of the show are covered. This is a radio show, but it is also a podcast with critical web elements, a social media presence, and the associate producer will be asked to create graphics in programs like Canva. Stories in the show come from multiple sources. 

The Inside Appalachia Associate Producer will

  1. Manage social media specific to Inside Appalachia, as well as edit and develop web material for Inside Appalachia’s web page.

  2. Work closely with WVPB’s Director of Digital to develop social media content, promote the show and support digital content.
     
  3. Organize production of the Inside Appalachia newsletter

  4. Contribute content to Inside Appalachia (develop stories for broadcast)

  5. Assist, when necessary, with script writing and developing episodes

  6. Have a love of people, as well as an interest in Appalachian arts, music, history and culture.

  7. Have excellent organizational skills and time management

  8. Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

This is a contract, part-time, hourly role, up to 30 hours a week and does not include a benefits package.
