Entries are now being accepted for the annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest, designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on, active learning. The contest is open to children in kindergarten, first, second and third grades and encourages them to celebrate their creativity while building literacy skills by writing and illustrating their own stories.

All children in grades kindergarten through third are invited to enter the annual PBS KIDS Writers Contest, designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on, active learning.  Sponsored by West Virginia Public Broadcasting, this contest empowers children in grades K-3 to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills by writing and illustrating their very own stories.

Give a Book to a Child in the Happy Valentine’s Day Children’s Book Drive

Friday is the last day to bring new or gently used books to West Virginia Public Broadcasting's three sites as part of the 2014 Happy Valentine's Day Children's Book Drive.

West Virginia Public Broadcasting is partnering with The Charleston Gazette, the Children’s Home Society and Read Aloud West Virginia in the 2014 Happy Valentine’s Day Children’s Book Drive.

Study Finds that Use of PBS KIDS Content in the Classroom Improves Early Math Skill

A new study conducted by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), and SRI International found that the acquisition of essential early math skills, such as counting, recognizing numerals, recognizing shapes, and patterning, increased significantly among four- and five-year-old children from economically disadvantaged communities who participated in a 10-week PBS Kids Transmedia Math Supplement initiative. Transmedia includes the use of familiar characters, settings, and stories across different media formats.

The walkabout character will assist at the launch pad and be available for photos.

Cookie Monster spoofs Icona Pop's hit song "I Love It" in this hilarious new video! Sesame Street launches its 44th season on September 16th, 2013 with a new self-regulation and executive function curriculum. Cookie Monster, the poster-child for someone needing to master self-regulation skills, attempts to explain these concepts while devising personal strategies on waiting to eat a cookie.
