The West Virginia secretary of state is asking more than 130,000 voters to update their address.

Media outlets report that the request from Secretary of State Mac Warner's office will come in the form of postcards in the next few days.

West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner says his office will assess any request it receives for information on the state's voter rolls but is limited by law in what it can provide. Warner, a Republican, said in a statement that his office had not received a request as of Friday afternoon from the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. Warner said West Virginians' privacy was of "paramount importance" and that his office would abide by state law.

The West Virginia secretary of state's office says more than 47,000 outdated or ineligible voter files have been removed from the state's voter registration system.

Secretary of State Mac Warner said in a news release his office worked with county clerks in every county to remove the files, and he says there's still more work to do.

On The Legislature Today, Secretary of State Mac Warner says changing the make-up of his office was necessary after his election in order to move in a new direction.

A number of the 16 employees were considering filing a wrongful termination lawsuit, but Warner defended his decision saying some of the staff hired to replace them will be out in the field working directly with county clerks, the elected officials he'll work with directly to administer elections.

West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner says that President Trump is right to draw attention to the need to clean up voter registration files.

In a news release, Warner said his office and the state's county clerks need the financial and technical resources to expedite the clean-up of the voter files and to tighten up the voter registration process.

The son of new West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner has received a Purple Heart, more than six years after he was injured in Afghanistan.

The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register report that retired Army captain Steven Warner received the honor during a ceremony Monday at the state capitol in Charleston, hours after his father was sworn in as the new secretary of state.

West Virginia Secretary of State-elect Mac Warner says about one-third of the current office's staff will be let go after he takes office this month.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports Warner notified outgoing Secretary of State Natalie Tennant in a letter Tuesday that 16 current staff members are on the termination list.

The Secretary of State’s office is among the six Constitutional Offices on the election ballot next month.

The race for Secretary of State is more crowded this election cycle than in years past. There are three candidates running for the office-- Libertarian John Buckley, Republican Mac Warner and Democratic incumbent Natalie Tennant.
