This marathon is for the crafting community! What’s your craft of choice? Get inspiration by the many artists and the mediums they choose to express themselves. From woodworking to quilting, from painting to glass blowing, you’ll get a history lesson of craft in America.
Noon – “Memory” -- The first in the Craft in America series, Memory observes how past is prologue, and looks to the dynamic of cultural history and personal heritage in creating objects.
1:00 p.m. – “Landscape” – The second episode considers the physical landscape, as well as the political and social influences on artists, and how they translate into the objects they make.
2:00 p.m. – “Community” – This hour focuses on the groups that give strength to craft artists and their work, as schools, religions, societies, or just friends bring together people to create.
3:00 p.m. – “Process” – What inspires a person to choose a career in craft? And how does one acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to become a craft artist.
4:00 p.m. – “Messages” – This hour focuses on the groups that give strength to craft artists and their work, as schools, religions, societies, or just friends bring together people to create.
5:00 p.m. – “Threads” -- Threads explores the needle arts including weaving, storytelling through quilts and textiles that speak to the creativity of the human spirit.
