Live Show News: NRBQ, Kat Edmonson, Lindsay Lou on Mountain Stage, May 13.

Mar 2, 2018

Mountain Stage with Larry Groce is adding to an already packed schedule of live performances in Charleston, WV with the addition of Sunday May 13 at the Culture Center Theater. Tickets are on sale now to Mountain Stage Members. Public on sale will be Friday March 9 at 10a.m.

On May 13 Larry will welcome back the long standing pure rock and roll rollers NRBQ, featuring pianist Terry Adams, for what is sure to be another unforgettable performance. The band has made five appearances on Mountain Stage, starting in 1988, and were the subject of a CD “Live From Mountain Stage” which you can still listen to on Spotify. The band is re-issuing its self-titled 1968 debut on CD and Vinyl, due March 16th.

Kat Edmonson will return for the third time with songs from "Old Fashioned Gal."

We’re excited to welcome back Kat Edmonson for her third appearance. Edmonson is about to release “Old Fashioned Gal” on April 27. Her spellbinding voice and jazzy pop songs are prevalent in the title track, which was named to NPR’s “Songs We Love” by WBGO’s Nate Chinen. Preorders for the album are available now.

Lindsay Lou first charmed our audiences in December of 2015 when she appeared on our 32nd anniversary show as the leader of Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys. She is back with a new record called "Southland," a Pledge Music funded project, that is leaning in a dynamic pop-jazz direction familiar to fans of Lake Street Dive. We’re excited to see and hear Lindsay Lou and her band live again.

The duo of Andrew Morris and Julie Bates make up The Matchsellers, who will join us for the first time May 13. They’re prepping for a March release of "Bluegrastronauts," which the band calls “old-time in outer space.” Recorded over two weeks in Springfield, MO, "Bluegrastronauts" features Chad Graves of the Hillbenders on dobro and Betsey Beymer on bass and vocals. The quartet will join us with their “songs steeped in tradition and melody with an interstellar amount of creativity."
