The fifth annual Huntington Classic Regatta kicks off next weekend in Huntington. The three day event this year will include a national racing competition.
The five-year-old event is a continuation of the once popular summer fest in Huntington that ended in 1999. The past four years the regatta has included power boat races and this year will include the American Power Boat Racing’s North American Championship. Dan Ferguson is the Chairman of the event.
“It’s going to be free, so the money you don’t spend at the gate we’re anticipating you’ll spend it here, so we’re going to see if that works out pretty good,” Ferguson said. “It is free to the public and we pride ourselves on generating enough in the beginning to make this thing happen.”
The Huntington Classic Regatta gets started Friday July 24th at Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington and runs through Sunday the 26th. Aside from the boat races, there will be amusement rides and concerts on Friday and Saturday night.
